CONSUMER complaint websites set up to name and shame companies that provide inadequate services and products have become a hotbed for hate attacks that are ruining people’s businesses and livelihoods.
While many of the complaints are legitimate, some contributors, who hide behind online pseudonyms, are using the consumer forums to post false and damaging complaints in a bid to bring down businesses and destroy careers.
Cyber experts say the authors of posts range from disgruntled ex-employees and business competitors to jilted lovers and individuals who have personal or professional axes to grind.
